Welcome to Vol 181 of the Spread!
Hello and welcome back to the Spread, your weekly edit of all the best stories and global news about Africans shaping mainstream culture.
I missed Grace Ladoja's Homecoming, and I'm still not over it.
I knew about it. It was on my radar, and my notes, and everywhere I looked, but somehow, life did what life does and snatched that experience right out of my hands. I watched the recap videos with a very specific kind of heartbreak that only comes from missing something you know is exactly your thing.
For those who don't know, Grace Ladoja has been building one of the most intentional creative universes in our culture. And it was exactly what it sounds like; a gathering, a homecoming, and a celebration of African creativity.
So no, I wasn't there. But I couldn't be more proud; of Grace, of Homecoming, and of every person who did show up, and made it what it was. Next year, that'll be me. Consider this my RSVP.
