This year’s Beyond Black campaign for Black History Month builds on our conversation around belonging, focusing on the community spirit embedded in Nigerian (and wider African) traditions of gathering. From Owambe parties to wedding ceremonies, from wearing trads to church to the weekend house parties of diaspora life, these rituals once formed the fabric of community in the UK and beyond.
We want to hear your stories. We want people in the UK to send in short videos of themselves reflecting on some prompts about belonging. This archive will become part of Beyond Black’s storytelling for Black History Month and beyond.
