The Afrobeats genre is experiencing explosive growth across music streaming platforms. Streaming of Afrobeats has increased by 283% since 2019 according to Spotify. The US, UK, Nigeria, France, and the Netherlands are the top five markets for Afrobeats, and big-name international artists like Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber are collaborating with Afrobeats musicians. African artists are becoming a reference point globally and smaller African brands are gaining exposure through dressing Afrobeats artists. The trend is similar to K-pop, and brands see these artists as a way to reach new audiences. Brands need to target African and diasporic consumers with well-targeted campaigns. Music has always been a pillar for Daily Paper, a streetwear brand based in Amsterdam that pays homage to its cultural background through music collaborations. Check it out on Vogue

Tems is the first non-mixed Nigerian female musician to win the award and the first Nigerian and female African artist to win "Best International Act" at the 2022 BET Awards.
