Welcome to Vol 193 of the Spread!

Hello and welcome back to the Spread, your weekly edit of all the best stories and global news about Africans shaping mainstream culture.

My weekend was fairly quiet: chores, getting my hair done, the usual. Nothing dramatic to report. But my mind has been busy. I've been thinking a lot about how art has real-life implications, how any time — tough times or not — is a good time to create. I've also been falling down rabbit holes on my usual scrolls, including the discourse around African literature and which books truly qualify as classics. Let's just say my reading list has gotten considerably longer. I'd love to know what you think: what do you consider a classic of African literature? Hit reply and tell me.
