I keep a mental list of Black and African power couples that actually move me, and Idris and Sabrina Elba just moved up a few spots.
Not because of the movies or the red carpets (although there’s also that). But it’s more because those two are dreaming in a direction that actually matters to me. Idris and Sabrina are betting on Africa, not as charity, but as a real part of their future. As a unit. With intention.
I'm taking notes. You should too.
Speaking of movies and red carpets; the AMVCAs happened! And I felt so, so proud to see My Father's Shadow absolutely sweep the awards. The fashion was also bold and daringly creative. African cinema is here, and it's winning, and nights like that are the proof.
