Shelcy Joseph is a fashion editor, content creator, and event host with an eye for style and a mind for business. Through her newsletter Market Appointment on Substack, she explores the intersection of consumer culture, garment history, and fashion strategy.
By day, she’s advising Macy’s on editorial direction or crafting brand partnerships for her page @nycxclothes–by night, she’s likely diving into a book, sketching fashion concepts, or soaking up New York’s vibrant cultural scene.
Born and raised in Haiti, Shelcy carries a deep admiration for her homeland’s history, but New York has become her second home. She's fluent in four languages (yes, four!), and dreams of creating a physical space where fashion and culture collide in meaningful conversations. Her mantra? “Things of quality have no fear of time”–a fitting motto for someone shaping the future of fashion while honoring its past.
Tell us a bit about yourself. What do you do? and what does a regular day look like for you?
"I'm a fashion editor, content creator and event host with a special focus on consumer culture, garment history and business. During the day, I am either writing for my newsletter Market Appointment on Substack, advising my client Macy's on editorial fashion strategy or creating brand partnership assets for my page @nycxclothes."
Where did you grow up? And where do you live now?
"I have been fortunate enough to be born and raised in Haiti, which has given me so much perspective and a deep admiration for my country's history. But I now live in New York, which has become a sort of second home thanks to its diversity of cultures."

What's your favourite thing about the city you live in?
"The spontaneity of it and randomness of people you'll meet. There is also a strong intellectual scene through cinema, literary clubs and museums, which I love engaging with."
What's a personal goal or dream you're working toward?
Launch a physical space to hold fashion culture conversations and welcome fellow creatives.

What's one fun fact about you that most people don't know?
"I speak four languages: Creole, French, English and Spanish. I am also a very good fashion sketcher."
What's a piece of advice you try to live by?
"Things of quality have no fear of time."

What's something you're currently obsessed with
"Physical books, which I know sounds SO cliché, but I'm rediscovering my love of them after an extensive period spent mostly consuming digital articles."
