Welcome to Vol 139 of the Spread!

Hello and welcome back to the Spread, your weekly edit of all the best stories and global news about Africans shaping mainstream culture.

After watching Ojude Oba and the BET Awards back to back, one thing is clear: Africans don’t play when it comes to style. From the elegance of traditional aso-oke and beads to bold, futuristic red carpet looks; the range is wild–and beautiful.

Honestly, I’m in awe, and at this point, I’ve accepted that the only thing more diverse than our style is the aura we wear it with.

Because the way some of you are dressing, your ancestors are clapping.
